The home also has a number of charming features which only come with these solidly built older homes. Some of my favorite features are the glass door knobs and wide window sills and trim. I also like the high ceilings on the first floor. We enjoy the large living room of the home and have used it for many birthday parties and family gatherings. The two car garage is a bonus for an older home and we have appreciated the extra parking space it affords. When our sons were younger they were able to learn to ride their bikes in the large driveway area behind the house. In the summers we would put up a small pool in the fenced back yard and relax while they would swim. We also had them help out with a vegetable garden. And there is an area for basketball as well. The neighborhood is very quiet and private, but the neighbors are always willing to lend a hand if needed. When we go away on vacation, it’s nice to have neighbors who will look after your home while you’re out of town. We are particularly happy with the Manheim Township schools. Our sons have attended Neff Elementary and the Manheim Township middle and high schools. It has been great for them to be able to walk to school. We’ve been very pleased with the teachers who are competent and caring. We’ve had one son in the academically gifted program and he had lots of opportunities for Advanced Placement and gifted classes. That prepared him well as he went on to graduate from the Honors program of a great college.
